I just saw on Omar Gallaga’s Twitter feed that Liz Carpenter, one of my favorite Texans, has died. Ms. Carpenter was perhaps best known as the press secretary to Lady Bird Johnson when she was First Lady and to Lyndon Johnson when he was Vice President.
This video of her speaking about her love of Austin and writing seemed appropriate to share since I just returned from Austin and my first SXSW.
We can all hope that when we die, we will leave behind loved ones who say, “that was a life well lived”.
Ms. Carpenter left behind legions of people with that sentiment.
